Supported Living Solutions

At Reliant Care, we welcome individuals with varied needs and requirements. Our experienced and compassionate staff provide tailored support that is based on each resident’s individual needs. We make sure that all our residents have what they need within the secure, homely and caring environment we provide.

Many of our residents are on an enhanced level of Care Programme Approach (CPA) and will have regular visits from care coordinators. We attend local outpatient appointments and liaise regularly with the mental health services to ensure our clients are receiving the best quality ongoing support.

COURSES

We are registered with Oxford Cambridge & RSA and are running accredited courses regularly – sessions last one hour with breaks in between.

These qualifications are designed to meet the needs of those seeking vocational education in place of the traditional, theory-intensive, academic route.

LIFE AND LIVING SKILLS

The Life and Living Skills suite of qualifications:

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS COURSES

Functional Skills courses develop practical skills that support learners in everyday situations. Learners will develop confidence, independence and fluency in English skills that help them to get the most out of education, work and everyday life.

VOCATIONAL COURSES

Digital employability pre vocational courses prepare the service user to be digital citizens in a world where only 7% of jobs don’t require some form of IT skill. This is a wonderful way of introducing and preparing candidates for the job marketplace and ideal for our own Digitisation employment project.

TRAINING KITCHEN - COURSES WITH A QUALIFIED CHEF

As a registered training centre with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), we offer hands on practical and classroom theory:

PREVOCATIONAL SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT PATHWAY TO WORK

Reliant Care are running several pre-vocational therapeutic supported employment projects. We are members of the British Association for Supported Employment (BASE). This pathway involves the following criteria which must be adhered to in order to support successful introduction to employment:

Pre-Vocational Profiling – comprehensive profile which covers objectives and outcomes and involves a lot of client engagement to complete skills health check and questionnaires relating to attitudes towards work, past experiences, ambitions, skills, learning needs and job interests.

Development Plan – a document which surmises the progress that the candidate is making

Employer assessments, job analyses and workplace agreements – we carry out our own assessment of prospective employers prior to considering a placement to ensure that the risk assessments are in place, health and safety procedures and policies are in place and in practice, ensuring a safe environment for work placement. The job analysis is a detailed analysis of the job and the work environment.

We will also make use of local employment services and support these services (for example arranging for service users to use the recovery college, CV writing services and so forth.)

The following supported employment schemes are currently being implemented at Reliant Care:

Digitisation and Archiving Services:
The Digital Employability courses are an ideal precursor to the employment of candidates in the field of scanning, digitally archiving and shredding services. This is a business solution which is in great demand and there is interest from local borough offices, accountants, solicitors and local estate agents to use this service. A service user with the correct training will be easily placed.

Travel buddy:
Travel Buddy is a peer mentoring travel scheme for vulnerable adults who may also have a disability.
Trained travel buddies are able to support service users to build the skills and confidence needed to travel independently using public transport or on foot.

Befriending:
We provide opportunities for social interaction, especially when service users are feeling isolated through illness, disability and mental illness or old age or social disadvantage. A one-to-one befriender can be there to listen and talk to the service users. This is an ideal service which may naturally occur during social networking interactions during our daily activity timetable.

Cooking Assistant:
Having completed the food safety awareness course, the service user will be an ideal fit for a job as a cooking assistant. Our own food club run every day in the training kitchen will be a great setting for employment and this can lead to employment in the local community.

Bakery:
Service users will be introduced to baking as part of their pre vocational therapeutic training. The Bakery project will encourage and employ service users to make sweet and savoury snacks (for example small pies, sausage rolls, small cakes and so forth.)

Recruitment Agency:
Our ambition is to start a recruitment agency. Our own employment specialist will procure employment for permitted work by the service users and this will be in the mainstream of the local community. Service users can then use their well-earned new skills in real employment.
